The St. Louis Rowing Club's members are men and women who are interested in rowing for recreation, fitness and competition. Founded in 1875, the SLRC was once one of several clubs in St. Louis which rowed on the Mississippi River. The SLRC became inactive in the 1950's but was "reborn" in 1983. Through the courtesy of the St. Louis County Parks and Recreation Department, we now row on Creve Coeur Lake, where we share a state-of-the-art boathouse with Washington University. The Club currently has about 200 members, men and women ranging in age from fourteen to seventy four. Equipment and Training The Club owns a complete selection of sweep and sculling boats, ranging from singles to eights. All club boats are available for members' use. Regularly-scheduled practice sessions, led by professional coaches, are held for novice and experienced sweep rowers and scullers. The Club's Learn-to-Row program provides basic instruction for new rowers. Competition The SLRC regularly competes in regional and national regattas. The Club hosts two regattas each year: the St. Louis Sprints in April, and the Gateway Regatta in June. Both regattas are regularly attended by rowers from clubs from all around the Midwest. Membership Membership levels are tailored to meet the needs of our members.
